Site Visits : HKSTP Science Park SPX1 Development
14th January 2017
On 14th January 2017, Prof. Wong Yuk Lung and Prof. Adam Choy organized a site visit for Year 4 student of the Department of Civil Engineering to HKSTP Science Park SPX1 Development in HKSTP Science Park.

This site visit provides an opportunity for our students to have a better understanding of the bored pile construction and the quality control on the constructed pile in Hong Kong. At the beginning of the site visit, a brief introduction of different testing methods and major plants for the construction of vertical bored pile was given from the Site Engineers. In addition, the functions and the operation of different equipment (i.e., RCD, casting oscillator etc) for the pile construction were introduced on site.



Site Visit : Precast Reinforced Concrete Manufacturing Factory
7th January 2017
On 7th January, 2017, students of civil engineering participated the site visit on Precast Reinforced Concrete Manufacturing Factory in Huizhou, Guangdong province, which was organized by Professor Wong Yuk Lung, head of Department of Civil Engineering. It is a good opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge about precast construction.

On November 10th, 2016, Prof. C.K. Lau (the Former Chief Engineer of the Tsing Ma Bridge and Director of Civil Engineer) attended the commencement. He expressed his congratulation to the graduates and wished them to have a good career path.
Site Visit : Liantang/ Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point Site Formation and Infrastructure Works
29 October 2016
On 29 October 2016, 15 civil engineering students participated the site visit to Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary control point site formation and infrastructure work, which was Organized by Student Chapter – Chu Hai College of Higher Education Canadian Society of Civil Engineering – Hong Kong Branch. The objective of the project was to facilitate the future regional cooperation and development by shortening the travelling time between Hong Kong – eastern Guangdong, and southern Fujian – Jiangxi. The scopes of this project included the construction of a dual two-lane trunk road (with about 0.4km of at-grade road and 4.8km of tunnel) connecting the Fanling Interchange with the proposed Sha Tau Kok Interchange and other engineering related works.
Canadian Society of Civil Engineering – Hong Kong Branch Student Scholarship

On 28 October 2016, Poon Hoi Ming, Billy, (Year 4 student, major in civil engineering) was awarded student scholarship of Canadian Society of Civil Engineering.

On 24th September, 2016, the students’ society has organized a site Visit to Central – Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link (CWB project), available for all civil students.
Orientation Camp

HKIE Civil Division – Institutions Anti-Earthquake Model Design Cup 2016

Four students named Matthew Wong, Laming Wong, Kelly Wong and Long Chung participated the Joint Institutions Anti-Earthquake Model Design Cup 2016 organized by HKIE Civil Division and Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of HKUST on 11th June 2016.
