Evolution of Public Housing in Hong Kong − Dialogue with the New Generation

The Hong Kong Housing Authority held a forum titled “Evolution of Public Housing in Hong Kong − Dialogue with the New Generation” on 18 September 2023. The speakers included the Secretary for Housing, Ms Winnie Ho; Former Deputy Director of Housing (Development and Construction) and former President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Ms Ada Fung; and renowned Hong Kong history expert Mr Cheng Po-hung. The students of Department of Civil Engineering have been invited to attend the forum. Dr. Celine Lee has led the student representatives, Mr. Nico Chan, Ms. Priscilla Li, and Mr. Owen Cheng, to the forum. Nico has opined his concerns about the impacts of climate change on housing design during the event. Students have learnt about the history of public housing development and the challenges ahead. The forum has provided a good opportunity for students to have a direct dialogue with the speakers and gain new perspectives about housing policies and development in Hong Kong.
