On 29 October 2016, 15 civil engineering students participated in the site visit to Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary control point site formation and infrastructure work, which was Organized by Student Chapter – Chu Hai College of Higher Education Canadian Society of Civil Engineering – Hong Kong Branch. The objective of the project was to facilitate the future regional cooperation and development by shortening the travelling time between Hong Kong – eastern Guangdong, and southern Fujian – Jiangxi. The scope of this project included the construction of a dual two-lane trunk road (with about 0.4km of at-grade road and 4.8km of tunnel) connecting the Fanling Interchange with the proposed Sha Tau Kok Interchange and other engineering related works.
