Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Civil Division organized best final year project competition to recognize civil engineering undergraduates who have completed outstanding final year projects that may help promote civil engineering advancement in the civil engineering industry in 2022. A maximum of 3 best final year projects were nominated by each tertiary institution to join the competition.
Mr. QIU Guanwen from the Department of Civil Engineering in Chu Hai College of Higher Education ranked 7th in the competition. The title of his final-year project was “App lication of Machine Learning in Predicting Sediment Dynamics in Terms of Turbidity, a Case Study in Lai Chi Wo Catchment, Hong Kong”.
Ms. ZHANG Yujia from the Department of Civil Engineering in Chu Hai College of Higher Education ranked 9th in the competition. The title of her final-year project was “Characterizing the Relationship between Rainfall Events and Landslides in Hong Kong”. Two projects were all supervised by Dr. LU Yi. The students were awarded the merit prize in the prize-giving ceremony held on 9th August at the HKIE headquarters.
