A Job Shadowing Programme was organised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers on 20 October 2021 to provide opportunities to undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience on some daily works in the industry. In this half-day programme, a visit to Building Environment Council (BEC) was conducted, during which staff of BEC introduced to CHCHE students several projects, including waste management and green building design, which are undertaken by BEC. Students also visited the rain water harvesting system, the noise reduction roof and the solar panel system installed in the green building of BEC which gained a Platinum Rating in the BEAM Plus Certification. The installation of modern features in an existing building demonstrated to the students the application of the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle (3R) to achieve green construction and sustainable building design. At the end of the visit, a sharing section was arranged for students to learn about some valuable industrial experience from the experts in the industry.
